A Cake With No Refined Sugar — and It Still Tastes Like Cake

Most cakes are 30 to 50 percent refined sugar by weight. Ours have none. The sweetness comes from dates and a small amount of agave or maple syrup; the rest is cashew, almond, oat, raw cocoa, and fresh fruit. Sugar-free here means one specific thing: no refined sugar. No white sugar, no brown sugar, no glucose syrup, no maltodextrin, no sucralose, no stevia. Dates and agave still contain natural sugars — a slice has roughly 8 to 14 g, mostly from dates — so this is not carb-free. What does "sugar-free" mean here exactly?
No added refined sugar of any kind — no white sugar, brown sugar, glucose syrup, maltodextrin, sucralose, or stevia. Sweetness comes from dates and a small amount of agave or maple syrup. Dates and agave still contain natural sugars, so the cakes are not zero-sugar; they are no-refined-sugar.
How much natural sugar is in a slice?
Roughly 8 to 14 g per slice depending on flavour and slice size, mostly from dates. For comparison, a typical bakery slice of similar size has 25 to 40 g of refined sugar. We can send the per-flavour numbers by WhatsApp before you order.
Will I taste the sweetness — does it feel like dessert?

How do I store the cake?
Keep it frozen — about two weeks at peak quality. Slice off one piece at a time with a hot knife and defrost that slice in the fridge for 2–3 hours, or at room temperature for 30–60 minutes. Single-slice storage keeps the rest of the cake fresh and helps with portion control.
